Thanks for the info via the blog. It has been very informative and has kept us in touch with your travels. Some of your ports of call have sounded a little disappointing for you. As you may have known or found out, there are still parts of South America which are close to being classified as third world. Hopefully you haven't visited many of them. As you commented, the port of Manta did not deserve a "call". I haven't been able to find your dates and itinerary. You must be close to returning home. Sonia and I are looking forward to catching up with you again to hear all your stories ans see more of your pics. The rain seems to have eased here but daily showers at various times still seem the norm. It will be nice to have a clear blue sky again.... it's been some time. W.A. elections weer just held and the Libs weer returned for a second term and flogging the labor party. Vic. gov't has a new premier as Ted Bailleau suddenly resigned. Tony Abbott was interviewed last night on 60 minutes and commented that he was a changed man and didn't feel or think about things the same way he has before. They ran a poll on him asking viewers whether they believed if they agreed that he was a changed man. In the quick survey some 5000 people phoned in and the results said 39% agreed he was a changed man and 69% did not. Even though these figures show he's not the most popular person around, the polls for Julia have not improved. Better prepare yourselves. Liz Hayes of 60 minutes pointed out that in his (Abbott's) earlier days he was training for the priesthood. She mentioned that there were two positions available, the PM's and the Pope. She asked him which one he was seeking. If you get a chance drop me an email and mention when you are getting back and in the mean time continue to enjoy your trip.
